Who we are?
We love working with wood, epoxy and laser engraving. Every piece is unique. Wood and epoxy are such great mediums to display our artistic talents. We love our potential customers reactions when they walk into our vendor booth at craft fairs and see our products for the first time. Our crafts are unlike anyone else selling similar items. You can’t buy these at a store.
I am a retired US Air Force Master Sergeant (DV) and am formerly of Shelter Island, N.Y. I have lived in Texas since 2008 and have been woodworking on and off since my grandfather encouraged and mentored me from age 5 or so. I recently started making wood, epoxy, and more recently laser engraving products , for sale to the general public. My girlfriend Yolanda has joined me and added a very crafty mind to our products; she mostly handles the epoxy work and I handle the wood and laser work. We run the craft fair circuit around the greater New Braunfels and San Antonio area for most of the year. We refrain from fairs in the summer when it is too hot to make it a fun experience.
Learn More About Our Custom-Made Cutting Boards
Our custom-made cutting boards are made with domestic and exotic hard-woods and glued with food-safe Tightbond3 wood glue. We only finish our boards with food-safe mineral oil and board butter/conditioner. There are no chemicals, or other non-food-safe products applied to our custom boards. The natural colors of some wood species will darken when oil or conditioner is applied. The natural colors of each wood species may darken or lighten or even change color slightly over time.
There are 3 grades of cutting boards:
Face-grain: approximately 3/4” thick, are the easiest to make and therefore the least expensive to buy, good to your kitchen cutlery.
Edge-grain: usually 3/4“-1.5" thick, process to build these are similar to face-grain but the edge of the wood is better on your cutlery and allows for thicker boards good for chopping meat as well as cutting up veggies.
End-grain: thickness ranges anywhere from 3/4” to 5” thick; processing time is doubled with an extra glue-up added to the build time, along with additional sanding required to flatten both sides of the board. End-grain is much better for your cutlery. These often come in a checkerboard pattern (2-3 species of wood) or can come in all kinds of unique patterns that require additional glue-up processes in order to achieve the intended result.
All of our custom-made cutting board are unique and can last your lifetime (or longer) as long as they are well cared for. We sell our boards with care instructions (in English or Spanish), as well as a sample bottle of food-grade mineral oil and board butter.
All our custom boards can be custom made to the customers specs (length, width, thickness), specific wood species and shape (square, rectangle, oval, live-edge, etc.). Custom laser engraving (family monogram, etc.) can also be applied (at additional cost). Additional options include: juice groove (2 or 4 sides), (4) feet (if not already applied), end-handles (routed into the ends of the board to make it easier to carry two-handed).
All our custom cutting boards are priced according to the market cost of the wood and the amount of time it takes to make it. Sometimes 2 separate boards with the same dimensions will be priced differently depending on the cost of the wood to make them.
In the past three years, we have created, sold, and given gifts to family and friends. These showcase our unique crafts like cutting boards, holiday decorations, charcuterie boards, coasters, knives, and epoxy projects. Some items, such as bamboo cutting boards and pens, are store-bought, but we add your custom laser engraving to them. We'll clearly mark which items are handcrafted and which are commercially made.
